Blue Tilapia Fingerlings

Blue Tilapia are considered to be a very good all purpose tilapia. They grow fast (second only to Niles), produce excellent tasting fillets and are known to tolerate colder water temperatures than many other tilapia strains. They are often selected by those who live in cooler climates, due to their ability to tolerate short periods of extremely low water temperatures as adults (down to 45 degrees F).

Blue Tilapia (Oreochromis Aureus)

Blue Tilapia are considered to be a very good all purpose tilapia. They grow fast (second only to Niles), produce excellent tasting fillets and are known to tolerate colder water temperatures than many other tilapia strains. They are often selected by those who live in cooler climates, due to their ability to tolerate short periods of extremely low water temperatures as adults (down to 45 degrees F).

Blue tilapia are omnivores but have a strong herbivorous tendency, preferring aquatic plants and algae when readily available. Because of this trait, Blue Tilapia are often a top choice for those wishing to stock tilapia in earth basin ponds, in states/areas they are allowed. They are highly effective at controlling nuisance aquatic plants, and due to their extremely high fecundity (reproduction rate), also provide exceptional forage for predator fish like largemouth bass when stocked in fishing ponds. Many pond owners seeking to produce trophy bass stock blue tilapia annually as part of their trophy bass management plan. Blue Tilapia are also an excellent selection for aquaponics and backyard aquaculture systems. They are a very forgiving fish when it comes to less than ideal water quality parameters and temperature extremes.

Our Blue Tilapia are GMO and hormone FREE. We ship mixed sex fish, so you will get a roughly 50/50 mix of males and females.

Great prices and outstanding fishReview by Rick

Like nborland below, I made the mistake of going with a different supplier first in an attempt to save a couple bucks on shipping. BIG MISTAKE! The other place shipped by USPS Priority which took 3 days and the fish were all dead. They shipped "replacement" fish two weeks later, but this time by USPS Express, and guess what..... ALL DEAD AGAIN! At that point I requested a refund. It was clear they didn't know what they were doing. The packaging was terrible and the water looked like toilet water both times. It took me 2 months of arguing with them to get my money back, but I finally did thanks to my credit card company issuing a chargeback (the owner wouldn't budge). Anyway, after reading a ton of great reviews about Allied Aqua on all the various aquaponics blogs and forums, I decided to give them a shot. 100% survival on the first go, perfectly packed in a nice insulated styro box, and I had 12 extra fish beyond what I ordered as well! I have also hit up Chris on the phone several times for advice and he's been a huge help. I can't say enough good things about Allied Aqua. A real class act operation, and the only place I'll be going for my fish and aquaponics needs from now on. Way to go guys! (Posted on 10/17/14)
Love my blue's Review by Dawn

I ordered 25 blue's back in March 2014. All arrived in good condition with no floaters. I added them to my "new" aquaponics tank and they have done very well. I lost a few right off the bat, but that was my fault, had nothing to do with the fish themselves. They are all quite large now and I am a totally satisfied customer. (Posted on 10/13/14)
Healthy fast growing fingerlingsReview by David

Bought some blue and some white Nile fingerlings about 6 weeks back. There were only a few floaters at time of delivery and all the others settled in quickly and most have been growing well. There are a couple that haven't grown much but guess that is to be expected. The whites on average seem to have grown more than the blue. (Posted on 8/8/14)

I ordered 200 and was amazed at how small the box was! Anyway the fish arrived all live and are doing well. I placed them in a tank with larger bluegills and after a few weeks they have tripled in size and are quickly catching up with the bluegills.

Good product, good service, and good results! (Posted on 6/14/14)

I have been very pleased with the blue tilapia that I purchased a few weeks ago. They have survived with no fish turning belly up on me. They have also been growing very well. Some are over 4 inches now from fingerlings when they arrived just a few weeks ago. I will be buying more from AA. (Posted on 5/18/14)
Best Price/ Healthy FishReview by Kimberly

The fish were packaged well. Delivery time said 10:30 am. They didn't arrive until 3:30. I was concerned but the fish were very healthy looking. I have to say I was concerned about the price and getting what I paid for ( a place 2 hours away sells the same for 2.99 a fish.) I was so wrong!! I only had 5 doa which had ample replacements already in the bag. I honestly couldn't be happier with my purchase. It's been a week and the fish are doing wonderfully. If I ever need more I will be buying from here. I will also recommend this company to anyone who wants to purchase Tilapia! Thank you! (Posted on 5/9/14)

Spring orders take a bit longer for shipping and processing, but the fish are worth the wait. The fish were larger than I expected and all fish survived shipping intact and healthy. They acclimated easily and I am pleased with my order. I would order again if I need more fish. (Posted on 4/11/14)

100% survival rateReview by Nborland

Ordered 50, got 64... and 100% survival rate! Couldn't be happier. I tried out a different outfit thinking I could save a few bucks before going with Allied Aqua. The other place claimed to be a "real hatchery" who offered free shipping, and I got screwed by them. The fish were shipped USPS Priority, took 3 days to get to me and were all dead when they finally did arrive. Had to fight back and forth with them to get replacement fish or a refund, and I'm still fighting with them about it. That experience really soured me on trying to get fish shipped to me, but after talking to Allied Aqua for about a week, I decided to give it another shot. Unlike the other place, Allied Aqua shipped me perfectly healthy fish by Fedex overnight air, gave me more than I ordered and had 100% survival rate. On top of that, someone from Allied Aqua called me after they arrived and made sure everything was good with the fish and asked me if I had any questions. Now that's great customer service. You've won a customer for life Allied Aqua! (Posted on 3/8/14)
Fish received healthy, growing well, highly recommendReview by Lori

I ordered my fish Nov 6th, received as promised Nov. 8th. Temperature of water in the bag at the time of arrival was sixty degrees, but the fish didn't seem affected. I received 37 fish, which I greatly appreciate, for my order of 25. The fish acclimated easily. Over the last 3 months I have lost 4, each on separate occasions for different reasons, my fault, not the fish's I'm sure. The remaining 33 are healthy, hardy, and thriving, in spite of this being my first experience with tilapia, and having to survive through my mistakes and learning curve. The fish are measuring between 1 1/2" to 4" at this time. The plan is for these fish are going to join my aquaponics system this coming spring. I'm in Washington State, so I'll have to supply heat to their water. These fish are lots of fun. I highly recommend. (Posted on 2/9/14)
